REVIEW

Neruppu Da is a Tamil thriller drama movie written and directed by debutant B. Ashok Kumar. The movie Neruppu Da produced by Vikram Prabhu, it stars him in the lead role alongside Nikki Galrani.

The title of the film was taken from the popular song from Rajinikanth's Kabali (2016), with the team feeling that Vikram Prabhu's character as a firefighter and a Rajinikanth fan meant that the title would be apt.

Former journalist B Ashok Kumar has written and directed Neruppu Da. He has seen the selfless work of firefighters from very close and some of those moments triggered him to make a full-fledged story centered on them.

Varun, Rajendran, Naginadu, Aadukalam Naren and others are also in the cast.

Sean Roldan has composed music for Neruppu Da. Aalangiliyae and Karukku Kallangolu songs have been well-received by the audience. The film has RD Rajasekhar's cinematography, while Thiyagu has edited the movie. The film revolves around Vikram Prabhu and his friends played by Varun, Vincent, Rajkumar and debutant Dinesh. The film tries to highlight the risks that firefighters take and their selfless acts. It is a tribute to them and the director has penned a story that portrays their struggles as well as entertains the audience.

STORY

The story is an action thriller and about five people, who work as firemen and their selfless journey in their profession with proper commercial elements in place and the hardships they face to save others. Neruppuda, set in Kannagi Nagar Housing Board Colony of Chennai, follows the lives of five buddies who harbor dreams of becoming firefighters. Vikram Prabhu plays Guru. Guru’s friends are played by Varun, Vincent, Rajkumar and debutant Dinesh. The film tries to highlight the risks that firefighters.

And it follows the life of a firefighter who fights against the bad guys. A stunned man turned actor Motta Rajendran playing a negative role. The first half of the movie set on the life of Vikram Prabhu and it deals with the introduction of the hero. While the second half turns interesting with the twist of action, fight, and stunts. It is entertaining and thrilling at a time.

PERFORMANCE

Neruppu Da movie is a tribute to the firefighters for their selfless acts. The director has penned a story that portrays their struggles as well as entertains the audience. The performance of all the lead characters is up to the mark.

. Vikram Prabhu has given a dedicated performance as Guru. Ponvannan plays his father. Their relationship is sweet and both actors have conveyed it well. The actors playing Vikram's friends support him well. They have their moments, be it comedy, action or emotion. Nikki Galrani has nothing much to do, making her entry and exit at regular intervals. Rajendran is a scream in a well-written role and provides laughter in few places. 

The first half is quite entertaining as the twists and turns are interesting and keeps us glued. But in the second half, the film hits some clumsy roadblocks as the director struggles to end the film by bringing in a surprise character that does not work to the advantage of the script.

RD Rajasekar's stunning visuals and Sean Roldan's music especially the introductory song and the duet are hummable
