Kappal - Unpleasant and too disappointing
Vaibhav has never had a solo hit so far in the industry and this one seems to be saving cup as Shankar has acquired the rights under his banner of S Pictures. The film is directed by Karthik G Krish with Vaibhav, Sonam Bajwa, Karunakaran and VTV Ganesh in lead roles. The album has musical score by Natarajan Shankaran.
Oru Cup Acid
Vocals: Deepak & Natarajan Sankaran
The song has already generated its fever before a long time with its single teaser release. It has heavy metal guitars and the sassy vocalism by Deepak intensifies the rocky mood. Madhan Karky as usual tries to make some gimmicks with the words that many don’t know. But whether it would appeal straight to the mass music listeners is a real big doubt.
Kaadhal Cassata
Vocals: Sathya Prakash, Saindhavi and Yuki Praveen
Melodic one with some beautiful guitars makes it close to our hearts. Thanks to Saindhavi for making it pleasant and cute in few places. Sathya Prakash and Yuki Praveen are just okay. But it is not an above average track.
Ekkachakkamaai
Vocals: Alphons Joseph, Ankitha Mathew
Except AR Rahman, no other music director has used Alphons Joseph to a good paradigm. He renders his best and yet the song remains too mediocre.
Friendship
Vocals: Anthony Dasan
Usually, we have heard Anthony Dasan rendering the same style of songs. But this time, he has tried something different and unique, which is worthy of appreciations. But a very low average of lyrics and musical spell makes it too unlikeable.
Kaali Pasanga
Vocals: Santhosh Narayanan
Santosh Narayanan exerts his complete energy into the song with best of his effort. But again, the song turns out to be too average.
Ooru Vittu Ooru Vandhu remix
Vocal: Sriram Parthasarathy
The song doesn’t overbeat the original version of Ilayaraja from Karagattakaran. But it is passable because of the singer Sriram Parthasarathy.
On the whole, Kappal album doesn’t have any big tunes to enthrall the music listeners and it is not so huge work by the musical team.
Verdict : Unpleasant and too disappointing
Stars : 1.5/5
