Nanbenda - Decent one by Harris, though not rocking
Post-the middling success of Idhu Kathiravelan Kadhal, Udhayanidhi Stalin and Nayantara are back together in Nanbenda, a rom-com directed by debutant Jagadeesh. The film also stars Santhanam in an important role and Harris Jayaraj has composed music.
1. Ennai Marubadi Marubadi
Singers: Vijay Prakash, Megha
Lyrics: Madhan Karky
These days Madhan Karky has been hitting headlines for his knack of using some modernised words that easily grab our attention and this one is not an exception. It is a decent melody from Harris Jayaraj and it kindles you to listen over and again.
2. Oorellaam Unnai Kandu
Singers: Unni Krishnan and Bombay Jayashree
Lyrics: Vairamuthu
It is really a great prestige for Udhayanidhi to be a part of song that has musical lyrics by Vairamuthu. To make it simpler, it’s a decorous number that keeps us so much engaged throughout the track.
3. Nee Sunno New Moono
Singers: Andrea Jeremiah and Mili Nair
Lyrics: Pa. Vijay
This is where the album slightly stumbles down as Harris Jayaraj turns out to be little feeble when attempting with western genre of music. The song nowhere impresses us and it could have been better.
4. Neeraambal Poovae
Singers: Arjun Menon, Rap – Mc Vickey
Lyrics: Thamarai
The combination of Harris Jayaraj and Thamarai always catches up our attention at an ease. She brings about some poignant lyrics in this track, but again the musical spell by Harris Jayaraj is merely average that doesn’t impress you.
5. Dappankuthu Mettula
Singers: Gaana Bala, Ujjayinee Roy
Lyrics: Vijaya Sagar
In the recent times, Gaana Bala has been showing up in almost all the albums, but it all depends the way how he is utilised. Harris Jayaraj tried his luck with ‘Aathangara Orathil’ in Yaan, which worked out, but the disappointment with Yennai Arindhaal ‘Adhaaru Adhaaru’ is worth mentioning about. This track belongs to the latter category and the music looks too normal.
6. Thaene Thaene Sendhane
Singers: Haricharan & Pravin Saivi
Lyrics: Muthukumar
The singers make the song more beautiful embellishing it with their mellisonant approach. Harris Jayaraj has distinctly composed the song in a way that it instantly offers a dulcet experience.
Overall, it is melodies that rule the album and Harris Jayaraj as in his previous album Anegan scores well in this genre. Despites this topping flashes, it would be nice if he can offer something different in other musical genres as well.
Verdict : Decent one by Harris, though not rocking
Stars : 2.5/5
