Poojai - Yet another disappointment from Yuvan
Poojai is the next venture that is helmed by director Hari after Suriya-Anushka starrer Singam 2. The tunes are composed by Yuvan and let's find out what has he got to offer us this time. It’s a special film as it marks the comeback of Vishal-Hari-Yuvan trio together after a very long time after Thaamirabharani.
Odi Odi
Singer: Palakkad Sriram
Lyrics: Na. Muthukumar
The song sounds quite loud and seems to be the intro song for Vishal. A good attempt for bringing an inspirational number, however is not an interesting one.
Ippadiye
Singer: Rahul Nambiar, Mili Nair
Lyrics: Na. Muthukumar
In his film, Yuvan some brings a song that stays in our heart forever and with this song, he has recreated the same magic. This song has a touch of Kuthu to it and the enthusiastic vocals of Nili and Rahul Nambiar makes it more interesting.
Veraarum
Singers: Karthik, Pooja
Lyrics: Na. Muthukumar
For this track, Yuvan comes up with a very simple and traditional composition and the song is very much backed by Karthik. Nevertheless, the track is a normal number and we find nothing intriguing to offer the audience.
Uyire
Singer: Yuvan Shankar Raja
Lyrics: Na. Muthukumar
This song is a solo track of Yuvan that is filled with a sense of emotion and sadness. Though the orchestra is quite normal, the lyrics and Yuvan's vocals gives a satisfaction to the listeners.
Soda Bottle
Singer: Anthony Dasan, Yazin, Sathyan
Lyrics: Na. Muthukumar
Every Hari film has an intro song for the hero and this one is nothing more than that. Maybe, with a grand set work and good choreography, it might add up some spice on the screens.
Devathai
Singer: Nivas
Lyrics: Na. Muthukumar
The song strongly reminds us of Azhago Azhagu that was featured in Samar and this one turns out to be an ear puller. The songs stand unique especially for its rock guitar, whistle bits, female chorus and of course, for the charming voice of Nivas. The film offers us a at least one song to become a chart-topper.
Evidently, K-town is waiting for the old charm of Yuvan. While Thirudan Police and Anjaan did fairly well, Poojai turns outting be a biggest let down. Well, it's high time Yuvan pulls back his old charm in Kollywood rather than disappointing his fans again and again.
Verdict : Yet another disappointment from Yuvan
Stars : 1.5/5
