Yennai Arindhaal - Surprisingly different and enchanting
Sublime melodies, Rock flavoured with Kuthu numbers and this becomes a qualified verdict for Yennai Arindhaal album that comes from a usual combination of Ajith-Gautham-Harris-Thamarai. This trio brings a right smart package of different musical genres and 2DAYCINEMA brings you a vivid analysis of this album.
Yaen Ennai
Singer – Sunitha Sarathy & Kharesma Ravichandran
Lyrics – Thamarai
Sleek and jaunty number that springs up from the energy-packed rendition by Sunitha Sarathy makes it more appealing. Boasting of a sophisticated charm, Khareshma Ravichandran throws an impeccable intonation. The lyrics might not be so audible with clarity, but the top-notch sound mixing has its domain embellished throughout the track.
Mazhai Vara Pogudhae
Singer – Karthik & Emcee Jesz
Lyrics: Thamarai
Déjà vu haunts you and in a pleasant panache. A trademark style of Harris Jayaraj that brings you ample traces from the music director’s previous compositions from Pachaikili Muthucharam and Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu. Karthi pops up the champagne with a Chartbuster every time he teams up with Harris, but this time it’s quite a mediocre, though might hit the sensation with visuals.
Unakkenna Venum Sollu
Singer – Benny Dayal & Mahathi
Lyrics – Thamarai
A melodic bringing an ambience of Shangri-la and that’s an esthetical style of Beatles epic. Mild instrumentals, soft vocalisations and scrupulous means to cheer in with fill-ins ascribe this to be a cherry-pick of this album. Benny Dayal, the sassy rendition master brings up a surprise with a melody and it’s quite an unusual number in the career of Ajith Kumar.
Yennai Arindhaal
Singers – Devan Ekambaram, Mark Thomas & Abhishek
Lyrics – Thamarai
For the ones who awaited a relentless punch, quite closer to the enigmatic title of Yennai Arindhaal coherent to their Mass Thala, Harris scrutinises his musical sense to the extremum. Let us put it his way, music director Harris gets overshadowed by his so-far hidden avatar of sound expert. Listen to the latter parts of this track and you’ll have the blast of excitements thronging upon your senses.
Adhaaru Adhaaru
Singers – Gana Bala, Vijay Prakash
Lyrics – Vignesh Shivan
This track implies, it’s not a class flick alone, but lots more for the frontbenchers of theatres to sway up with celebrations. Standing out as an alien, it is a treat nurtured for the mass bound audiences, especially Ajith fans. The lyrics by filmmaker Vignesh Shivan are quite normal, but few lines Pattaasu Inime Koluthaama Vedikkum are sure to send the fans in gaga.
Maaya Bazaar
Singers – Aalaap Raju, Priya Subramanian, Velmurugan & Krishna Iyer
Lyrics: Thamarai
An unparalleled attempt by Harris, where the most fabulous superimposition of genres happen from classical retro style to the folk Kuthu zone impeccably... Glimpse upon the list of singers and their brand names give you the perfect evidence of how this song could be.
Idhayathai Yedho Oru
Singers – Chinmayi
Lyrics – Thamarai
A reprise version would usually carry the same old lyrics of the respective track, but difference strikes with lyricist Thamarai as she doesn’t miss to offer new phrases. The composing as a complete replica of Unakenna Vennum, but Chinmayi brims the song with more melody.
Yennai Arindhaal, a rare of its kind in the career of Ajith Kumar and this comes as a sudden surprise from Harris Jayaraj as his previous albums were stark disappointments. Well, it doesn’t mean it deserves 5-star rating, but moderately perfect and quite appealing when compared to the previous films of Ajith Kumar.
Verdict : Surprisingly different and enchanting
Stars : 3/5
