Cabus, according to R Ramaseshan, Executive Director, and one of the founders of the company, said it would offer the comfort of a cab at the cost of a bus travel. As a cab, it would pick up and drop passengers at the doorstep, but the cost would be on a par with the bus fare, “if not lower”, he said. Customers have to contact Cabus and register their choice of vehicle and the convenient time band. Cabus will send a cab, pooling in other passengers to the same destination, at a time which would be convenient for all the passengers. “If we do not find another consumer to the same destination, we would still send the cab to the one who booked,” he explained. PR Meenakshi Sundaram, another founder director, said the Cabus would take every possible measure to ensure passengers’ safety. It would verify the identity of every passenger. Besides, the cab would be monitored through out the journey for their safety. “Even if the cab has to take a two-kilometre deviation, we would know at the control room. There would be a panic button too.” As of now, Cabus has signed in 250 cabs (on the attachment model) – across sedans, multi-purpose vehicles, luxury cars...
