Aal - Somewhat justifies the original version

Aal that features Vidharth and Hardika Shetty in the lead role is a remake of 2008 Hindi film Aamir.

Story

Vidharth is a professor who works in Sikkim. To see his family, he comes down to Chennai. As he arrives to the city, a stranger calls him and threatens him to do certain job for him. Well who is this stranger? How he knows about Vidharth? And for what he asks the former to do the kind of jobs? Well when Vidharth unravels all these mysteries, he is really tensed. Well, the rest of the story adds twist and turns to the film.

Performance

As a loving man, Vidharth's performance is quite natural. Once Vidharth comes learns the impact of his action over the general public, his decision to stop them leaves the audience in awe. Similarly, Vidiyal Raju who plays the terrorist captures our hearts as well. Though the heroine of the film, Hardika Shetty one comes for minimum scenes, she adds charm in the scenes she come.

Plus

In the name of Jihad, how innocent and young Muslims are used in terrorism is shown in this film. When a film that deals with such stories, it is very important to make the screenplay more important. However, here, director Aanand Krishna misses that trick. The story goes like a Muslim youth comes over to Vidharth and asks if he knows what is Jihad and Vidharth does not give much attention to the question. However, after upon reaching Chennai, he comes to know the full meaning of it. Well, there were several sequences where Vidharth just hangs out not knowing what to do with the situation. In these sequences, the director could have added more thrill to grab the attention of the audience. A sensitive concept that has been handled very well, the pleasant backdrops of Sikkim, Crisp film, Cinematography and Background Score are the highlighting traits.

Minus

If we are looking up for minus in the film, they aren’t found in plethora, but few things like lengthy scenes in the first half and too many close-up shots create a hurdle in enjoying this film.

To cap it all, the film is a message stating that all Muslims are not supporters of terrorism and thus has gained the support of both Muslim citizens and general public of the state.

Verdict : Somewhat justifies the original version

Stars : 2/5
