Ramanujam hailing from a poor family found his passion in Mathematics and stood first in the Matriculation examination. As a result, his college sponsors his graduation course. But unfortunately Ramanujam was interested only in Mathematics and was unable to score well in other subjects only to earn insults at home and in his college.

His exceptional talent in solving mathematical problems did not get him any job, yet his interest in numbers least did decrease. Meanwhile his mother Komalathammal (Suhasini) decides to get him married and so the marriage between Ramanujam and Janaki (Bhama) happens. Seeing Ramanjam’s passion for the subject his Mathematics professor helps him.

With the assistance of his professor, Ramanujam’s mathematical inventions reach England. At the Harvard University professor Hardy recognizes the brilliance of the mathematician’s work and invites him to visit England to continue his research work. During the course of time he is diagnosed of Tuberculosis combined with home sickness Ramanujam falls into depression. Will his research be accepted and what happens to his health forms the rest of the story.

Abhinay Vaddi as Ramanujam has done a brilliant job and it is unbelievable that it is his first film. Similarly Suhasini, Y Gee Mahendra, Sarath Babu, Nizhalgal Ravi all have done a commendable job.

Music is composed by Ramesh Vinayakam and the songs are palatable but the BGM is definitely a valuable addition to the film. Sunny Joseph has brought the 19th century live for us on screen.

Most of us maybe aware of his mathematical contributions to the society, but this biopic has gone a step further to bring to the audience the sequential happenings in the life of Ramanujam, thanks to the director Ganan Rajasekaran. Harvard University had given special permission to shoot in their campus for this film which is a rare honour and this is because of the respect earned by the mathematician.

Verdict : On the whole Ramanujam is a must watch for all school, college students.
