Aindhaam Thalaimurai Sidha Vaidhiya Sigamani - A film with good theme, but lack engaging moments
Such oodles of stories were found in Tamil cinema before couple of decades, where mindless entertainers dominated the showbiz, but had some convincing themes to keep the audiences engaged. Aindhaam Thalaimurai Sidha Vaidhiya Sigamani directed by LG Ravichandar comes with such an impact. It marks the 25th film for Bharath in his career and Nandita plays the female lead and lots of attractions occurs with the presence of comedy artistes like Thambi Ramaiah, MS Bhaskar, Manobala, Karunakaran, Mayilsamy and many others.
Story
Despites the fact Sigamani (Bharath) is an uneducated Siddha doctor, he and his mother (Renuka) aspire for an education girl to be his spouse. Indeed, their dreams come true when Sigamani finds Nandini (Nandita), a good looking educated woman with high fluency in English. What happens by mistake of Sigamani’s close friend (Karunakaran) claiming his friend to be a doctor results in Nandini’s father (Thambi Ramaiah) instantly giving a nod to marriage. But Sigamani doesn’t know a secret that things are same on the other end as well.
Performance
Bharath tries to underplay his role and doesn’t try to flex his muscles or exhibit his heroism. He keeps himself composed in many scenes, which is worthy of appreciations. Nandita looks beautiful as before and her sudden transition to glamour in songs is excellent.
Thambi Ramaiah gets a substantial role, but turns out to be a little disappointment is that he turns irresistibly energetic and keeps howling with dialogues throughout the film. The director should have limited his performance. There are lots of comedy artistes in the film that includes Karunakaran, MS Bhaskar, Mayilsamy, Singam Puli, Bose Venkat and others have done what is required for the film.
Technical
Cinematographer PG Muthaiah is known for some of the best works and that includes Bharath’s Kanden Kadhalai indeed. But this one doesn’t seem like his work. Too many distractions come through the fast movements of camera. Editing is little amateur. Simon does his best on musical spell and the songs are pretty decent based on folk and western mix. Even the choreography has been done with special panache.
Plus
As mentioned earlier, the performance Bharath and Nandita is one of the highlighting traits here. The basic theme of film emphasising on education is appreciable. Some interesting scenes about the Siddha medicine, especially where Bharath tries to convince a young boy by making him loose the taste of sugar and honey is a good illustration. It shows the deep research of director LG Ravichandar.
Minus
There is a good casting of actors, but they appear scattered and LG Ravichandar fails to utilise them with perfection. With such a huge star-cast, the director could have really pulled in the string of unlimited laughter riot, which goes missing here. The director has a good theme in hand, but his execution turns out to be a minus. It doesn’t mean, the film is not worth watching, but if he had handled it more convincingly, this would have surely garnered extraordinary appreciations for being a decorous family entertainer.
Verdict : A film with good theme, but lack engaging moments
Stars : 1.5/5
