Anjala - A Decent Entertainer!
REVIEW
Anjala is a Tamil film directed by Thangam Saravanan and produced by Dhilip Subbarayan. Vimal and Nandita feature in the leading roles, while Gopi Sunder composes the film's music.
Imman Annachi, Aadukalam Murugadoss, Subbu Panchu, Riythvika and others are in the supporting cast. The interesting part of the story is that a host of stars, including Jayam Ravi, Bobby Simha, Karthi, Raghava Lawrence, Sivkarthikeyan, Vijay Sethupathi has done guest appearances in "Anjala".
STORY
‘Anjala‘ revolves around a family that is determined in saving their ancestral Tea shop from being demolished and their fight to save it even after receiving a number of threats from the Government. Actor Pasupathy plays the role of Muthirulandi, the owner of the tea shop.
On the other hand, Vimal appears to be a loyal rescuer to Pasupathy in his feat to save the tea shop. The female lead played by Nanditha, happens to be a village girl who falls in love with Vimal. All in all, the whole story revolves around the characters who try to manage to save their legacy.
What happens at the end is something that is to be watched on the big screen.
PERFORMANCE
The director has taken such a beautiful subject, but has treated it very carelessly. Except for the first 20 minutes, the movie does not attract us.
Pasupathy has lifted the movie all by himself on his shoulder with his acting. His dignified performance stops Anjala from sinking to the very bottom.
While the chemistry between the lead pair Vimal and Nanditha looks really awful. Her declaration of love and Vimal’s response is something too artificial. This kind of humor is insensitive, and adding to this lack of finesse are the needless songs and dances that do not push the narrative, but obstruct and ruin it.
It seems such a tragedy that a fascinating plot is messed up this way.
PLUS
The story, Pasupathy’s acting
MINUS
Fake Romance, Forced Comedy
Verdict : A Decent Entertainer!
