The success of Aranmanai paved way for the sequel Aranmanai 2. Although the team has already confirmed, that this movie is not an extension of the first part. 

The second instalment is much bigger than its predecessor in terms of budget and cast. It became evident after the team erected Asia's largest statue of goddess Amman (103 feet) for the climax of the film, thereby entering the Limca Book of Records.

"Aranmanai 2" is a horror film filled with lots of humor. The film is set in a luxurious bungalow and it is focused on Trisha and Hansika's roles in the film. Its prequel Aranmanai received mixed reviews and it succeeded to grab the audience’s attention and had a good collection at the box office. Aranmanai 2 is also releasing in Telugu with the title Kalavathi.  The movie is based on the story of a haunted mansion, where Siddharth and his family plans to stay there. While staying they encounters several spooky incidents and later they realized that it is haunted. Who haunts that mansion? What is the reason behind that? The answer for these questions forms the rest of the story.

Story

Jamindar (Radha Ravi), who lives in village, plan for Kumbabhishekam in a temple. The villagers believe that after performing Kumbabhishekam, goddess will open her eyes and remove the evils from the village. Jamidar and villagers are busy in making all the preparation for Kumbabhishekam but suddenly an evil spirit tries to enter in the fort of Zamidar to kill him but he went in to coma.

Murali (Siddharth), the son of Jamindar, entered in his father’s fort along his fiancé Anitha (Trisha). Both Murali and Anitha try to find out the evil spirit in the fort and after few twists, they came to know the death mystery of Anitha’s Sister Maya (Hanshika).

Who is Maya? What is the death mystery of Maya? How Murali and Anitha to get rid of evil spirit? To know these answers, one should watch the movie on silver screen.

Performances

The lead cast has done a wonderful job with the performances.  Director Sundar C tries to maintain the right doses of comedy and horror.  The first half of the movie is good and entertaining but the second half of the movie is dragged at certain places that disappointing the audiences. The placement of couples of the songs looks like path breaker. Dialogues are neat and delivered well.  The cinematography work is good which is handled by Senthil Kumar.

Actor Siddhaarth has done good job, he performed well in emotional as well as in romantic scenes.  The performance of Trisha is up to the mark and her glamour became successful to grab several eyeballs especially in the beach song. Her romantic chemistry with Siddharth is appreciable on the screen.

Hansika has done justification with her role, she appeared in two different shades and became successful to maintain the balance between emotional scenes and horror scenes.

Poonam Bajwa did not get much screen space and appeared in the role of Malayali Nurse. Sundar C was seen is limited role and performed well. Radha Ravi in the role of father and Subbu Panchu as brother performed well. Sarala and Soori tried to give much laugh to the audience.

Art direction, performance of Siddhaarth, Trisha and Hansika are the positive points of Aranmanai 2.

Minus

Predictable storyline, Lack of logic in few scenes are the negative points of the film.

Overall Aranmanai 2 is a family entertainer and can be watched once.
