Bayam Oru Payanam - Not Scary at All..!
REVIEW
Manish Sharma's "Bayam Oru Payanam" is a horror-thriller, which has Bharath Reddy, Meenakshi Dixit and Vishakha Singh in the leads. Urvashi, Singampuli, Yogi Babu, King Kong and others are in the cast. The film has YR Prasad's music, I Andrew's cinematography and LVK Dass Daniel's editing.
"Bayam Oru Payanam" is a complete horror film and like the recent hits in this genre -- "Aranmanai," and "Darling," there is no scope for comedy elements in the latest Tamil film. Bharath Reddy, who did supporting roles in movies like "Thozha," "Ko 2," "Unnai Pol Oruvan," and "Idhu Kathivelan Kadhal" will be seen in a major role in the flick.
STORY
A photographer (Bharath Reddy) goes to Munnar for his work related assignment and hires a bungalow with the help of a local drunkard (Singam Puli).
In the night, he gets a memory card in the bungalow and see photographs from a party and calls his journalist friend saying he will mail them. But even after repeated attempts, he cannot mail his friend and soon, starts experiencing paranormal activities.
At one point of time, the photographer gets special power to see people who are already dead. What happens to him? Can he go back to his place to see his wife and daughter? Will the ghost continue to haunt him and his family? Watch the film to know
PERFORMANCE
Bharath Reddy plays the lead role in this movie, the actor looks great and his physique has impressed the audience but fails in showing the emotions and expressions since it looks same in all the scenes. Vishaka Singh has given her best and carried her ghost character in an excellent way. Meenakshi Dixit has limited space on a screen, and has acted well as a wife.
For any horror movie, the screenplay should be highly engaging that there should enough surprise elements and secondly, the back story of the ghost should create huge emotional impact. Sadly, both these things are completely missing here. The film is tacky and looks extremely unprofessional. Technically too, the film is below average with ordinary visuals. The background music is the positive thing which makes up everything more interesting.. Though the intention of the director to make a unique horror movie with non-linear narration is understandable, but he inadvertently puts us to sleep mode.
