Bogan - Paisa Vasool!

REVIEW

The most awaited Tamil action film ‘Bogan’ starring Jayam Ravi, and hot diva Hansika Motwani releasing worldwide on February 2nd. It is an action film written and directed by Lakshman. Prabhudeva is producing the film under his banner of Prabhu Deva Studios. The film stars Jayam Ravi, Arvind Swamy, Hansika Motwani and Akshara Gowda in the leading roles. The film also stars Varun and Nagendra Prasad in pivotal roles. The film music is composed by D. Imman, while Soundararajan handles Cinematography is and Anthony is the editor.

STORY

Film based on Transmigration of souls or body swapping. We have seen the same concept two decades ago in Prabhu’s ‘Chinna Vaathiyar’. Bogan is a mix of Chinna Vaathiyar and “Face Off”. A cat and mouse game between cop and villain frames the entire plot.
PERFORMANCE

After Blockbuster Thani Oruvan, the Jayam Ravi – Aravind Swamy duo is back with full punch. Both the actors Compliment each other and delivered a dazzling performance, definitely a challenging role for both of them. Jayam Ravi as Cop Vikram and Aravind Swami plays ‘Bogan’ Adithya. Both of them have shown believable changes in the body language and dialogue delivery, post the body swapping. We love to see the same combo again and again in future.

Hansika’s third outing with Jayam Ravi, the successful ‘Romeo-Juliet’ pair. Her expressions are lovely, the scene where she drunks and talks to the police is a perfect example. Special mention to the one who has dubbed for Hansika. Perfect lip sync and modulation. Supporting cast did their part well, includes Nasser, Ponvannan, Varun, Naren, Nagendara Prasad and Akshara Gowda.

Directed by Lakshman of ‘Romeo Juliet’ fame. Genre he took here is a total contradiction from his first film. The plot is heavily inspired from hollywood film Face/Off and Chinna Vaathiyar. Screenplay and dialogues are impressive. Film Starts with a wonderful introduction, picks up very slow and first half ends up with a powerful interval block. Second half is full and full of cop-bogan chase, which is very racy. At the end it delivers a satisfactory watch.

Highlights of the film are Aravind Swamy’s Bogan characterization, Mannerism, Jayam Ravi Performance, second half body swapping concept usage, Hansika – Bogan dinner sequence and songs.

Technically the film is above par with good cinematography by Soundararajan and Editing by Anthony. Philip Suburayan’s two major stunt sequences drags and looks unwanted. Dance choreography by Sheriff and Raju Sundaram is commendable.

Music is composed by D.Imman. More than the background score, the songs have clicked well. Intro song ‘Damaalu Dumeelu’ is pretty similar to ‘Dandanakka’, Two melodies ‘Senthoora’ and ‘Vaarai Vaarai’ are heart wrenching.
