Innimey Ippadithaan - Middling Entertainer
Tamil cinema is having a legacy for comedians turning into heroes and it happens very often in Kollywood. Following legendary comedy actors, Santhanam too debuted as a hero in Vallavanukku Pullum Aayutham which was a failure, now he is back with his second film as a hero with an interesting title Innimey Ippadithaan. So how it has fared?
Plot
Seenu’s (Santhanam) mother is obsessed with astrology and his father is a stingy businessman whereas just like any other hero, Seenu leads a happy life by roaming with his friends but things take ‘U’ turn when he meets Maha (Ashna Zaveri). Seenu feels love at first sight but when he proposed, Maha meanly rejects him.
Wounded Seenu agrees to his parents wish and agree to marry Akila (Akila Kishore) and soon, the engagement also happens. But all of a sudden, Seenu learns that Maha actually rejected him as a prank. Now Seenu decides to romance Maha but on the course of marriage, he is planning to tell the truth to Akila and convince her to cancel the marriage.
Will all these things happen as per Seenu’s plan ?
Plus
The film’s major plus is Santhanam and his timing comedy. The actor has really worked on his lines that most of the scenes evoke good laughter. In recent times, Santhanam’s comedy was blunt but Inimey Ippadithaan is refreshing and the actor has returned to his good form.
Music by newcomer Santhosh Kumar Dhayanidhi is catchy and couple of tunes are hummable. Actors like Thambi Ramaiah, Naren and others have also done their job well.
Akila Kishore looks cute in the film while Ashna Zaveri struggles hard to utter her Tamil lines.
Minus
The film suffers pace issue and only Santhanam’s comedy comes in handy to reset the tempo. Editing looks bit harsh, that some of the jump cuts are clearly evident.
The screenplay could have been better for a romantic entertainer, instead the directors pin hopes only on Santhanam’s comedy timing and dialogue delivery.
Bottom Line
Innimey Ippadithan is a middling entertainer but definitely better than Santhanam’s debut film Vallavanukku Pullum Aayutham
Verdict : Middling Entertainer
Stars : 2.5/5
