Irudhi Suttru - a must watch film
After a long gap of four years Madhavan is back in Kollywood with his Irudhi Suttru. As the trailer says, Irudhi Suttru is a sports drama. Obviously the chocolate boy has done a distinct attempt.
The movie narrates the story of two boxers who come together on a dream of winning gold for India in boxing. Madhavan appeared as a boxing coach and Ritika Singh also played a lead role with Madhavan. The movie has been released in Hindi and Tamil and an amazing music given by Santhosh Narayanan.
Story
Prabhu Selvaraj has a painful past where his own men cheat him from accomplishing his goal of winning the gold medal. Maddy as Prabhu depict the role of a boxer, whose dream is to win gold medal representing India. But based on some disputes he will be removed from the team. Shattered by his loss, Prabhu turned to a life of cynical self-destruction booze, brothels and bar-fights. Loyal friends somehow bring him back to boxing as the coach of the low-rated Indian women's boxing team.
Finally he got the last chance of proving himself as a good coach by representing a female boxer in worldwide women’s boxing championship. His outspoken honesty sends jitters through his old adversaries, and he is soon transferred to Chennai, the Siberia of Indian boxing.
But Prabhu continues to dream but this time for a free-spirited, fiery young woman from the fishing community, Madhi (Ritika Singh). Madhi is a woman selling fish in Kasimedu slum. Madhi’s elder sister Luz somehow wants to win the boxing match and become a police officer. From their childhood, Madhi & Luz used to watch Muhammad Ali’s boxing matches and try to fight like him.
Prabhu spots in Madhi a champion that could bring India the gold that he was robbed off. But first Prabhu must earn her trust, then tame her impetuosity and finally make her dream all this in just nine months before the world championship. And so begins an uneasy partnership between a man who loves his sport and a girl who loves her freedom. At first Madhi gets greedy for money and accepts to learn boxing. Then she finds out the strong ambition of Prabhu and takes it as her own challenge.
Finally, will he achieve his goal or if get, how to achieve his goal is a rest of the story.
Performances
Everyone who has acted in this movie has done their part really well.
Madhavan has lived as Prabhu and stunts the viewers with his dialogues.
Ritika Singh who is a real life boxer liked this movie script as it suits her well. But when coming to acting, her style and performance as a fish seller, a local rowdy, and a boxer is really commendable.
Every other actor was also used for their full potential. Songs were placed at perfect places not to disturb the screenplay.
Plus
The story, screen play, dialogues, music and acting were damn good and become the positive points of the movie.
Minus
Whereas slow story narration is the only negative point.
Overall, Irudhi Suttru is a must watch film of Madhavan.
Verdict : a must watch film
