Kochadaiiyaan - Kochadaiiyaan – Vettrikondaan!
Story: Kochadaiiyaan, the lieutenant of the Kottayapattinam army, is accused of treason and killed on the orders of the king. His son Rana goes into hiding only to return back to wreck his vengeance on those responsible for this dad’s death.
Technicalities: AR Rahman’s songs and background score gives life to the film. Methuvagathaan, Kanne Kaniye and Silendra are simply superb in the album. The animated forms of Superstar Rajinikanth, Shobana, Aadhi and Nasser are excellent. Sarath Kumar and Jackie Shroff look quite okay. The worst happens to be Deepika Padukone, Rukmini and Shanmugaraja.
Negatives: Whatever it may be, this is not a Superstar film but an animation film! This is one of the biggest minus!
Best: There is no denying that Kochadaiiyaan is saved entirely by KS Ravi Kumar’s story, screenplay and dialogues. Since the story is very strong, we fail to recognise that it is an animation movie within minutes the show starts. Though there is a opinion that it is not an animation film but made using the motion capturing technology, the only truth is that the screenplay is the major reason for its success.
Kochadaiiyaan is an enjoyable fare if fans realise that it is a animation film!
Verdict : Kochadaiiyaan – Vettrikondaan!
Stars : 3/5
