Kuttrame Thandanai - A decent attempt..!
REVIEW
Kutrame Thandanai is a crime thriller drama film co-written, cinematography and directed by Manikandan and Produced by S. Harihara Naganathan, S. Muthu, S. Kaleeswaran. Music of this film is composed by Ilaiyaraaja. This Movie stars Vidharth, Pooja Devariya and Aishwarya Rajesh in the leading roles.
STORY
Kutrame Thandanai is the story of a mild-mannered collections agent in desperate need of money. The man is slowly going blind and cannot afford the surgery to fix his eyes. He debates whether needs define morality and whether it is fine to co-opt with corruption by staying silent when he discovers the dead body of his young, female neighbor. When he witnesses a young woman’s murder, the killers offer him a large sum of money to remain quiet.Did he take the money? What happens next forms the rest of the story.
PERFORMANCE
Vidharth does what is expected out of him. Aishwarya Rajesh’s role is short and bold, deserves applause. Nasser, Rahman Guru Somasundaram and Pooja Devariya support the story well with their performances.
The cinematography is brilliant. It has the stamp of the photographer Manikandan all over it. The tunnel like vision shots are well executed. Ilaiyaraja is undoubtedly one of the biggest strengths of the movie. The Maestro bowls us over with his chilling background score.
It might be too early to call Manikandan, the master craftsman, as he has just made his second movie in the career. But within this short time, the young man has set a standard of filmmaking, and his class is sharper and tamed this time. If Kaaka Muttai was a lighthearted movie with a big social message, This is a film with a large canvas, and it has a message which is quite thought provoking.
