Maruthu - Commercial Entertainer in Rural Background!

REVIEW

Vishal's Maruthu has released worldwide today. Sri Divya played the female lead alongside Vishal after replacing Lakshmi Menon. Maruthu is presented by Gopuram films under the direction of M. Muthaiah. D. Imman presented the music and background score for the Action-Romance combo flick.

RK Suresh of ‘Tharai Thappattai’ fame will be seen as an antagonist in the film. Soori has acted as the hero’s friend and his role will have scope for comedy as well as emotional scenes. Veteran actor Radharavi who was at loggerheads with Vishal in the Nadigar Sangam Elections has acted in an important role in the film.

STORY

Maruthu is a Tamil movie in which Vishal will be seen playing the title role who is a laborer. The whole story revolves around the main line of his relationship with his grandmother. He will be accompanied by his friend Shakthi which is played by Soori.

It is a rural drama that mainly revolves around the relationship between a man and his grandmother. The hero of the story does not have any particular aim in life. But he feels like he has the responsibility to teach everyone what is wrong and what is right. This is why he gets into a fight almost every time he opens his mouth.

Maruthu (Vishal) is the grandson of Mariamma (Kolla Pulli Leela). He goes to any extent to make her happy and she wants him to marry Bhagyam (Sridivya). His leading lady gets into a trouble with a local thug Rolex Pandian (RK Suresh), who wants to kill her along with her father. With the hero coming to her rescue, the story takes a twist and how he saves her forms the remaining part of the story.

PERFORMANCE

Hero Vishal showed his skills, he has a good identity with his fights, and moreover, Vishal suits perfectly for any action role and coming to Sri Divya, as usual, she impressed with her natural beauty and a simple smile.

RK Suresh once again proves that he is an effective villain material. As the menacing Rolex Pandian, he is perfect with his dialogue delivery and action sequences. Kulappulli Leela as Vishal’s apatha could be a find of the season. But her character gets too preachy and boring after a while. Soori is his usual self and has work in the pre-interval block. Radha Ravi has a small role to play.

Muthiah has packed the story with all types of emotions with the action parts remaining the big plus point of "Maruthu." Among the technical departments, D Imman's background score Velraj's cinematography are top notch. Editor Praveen KL has done a fabulous job with his sharp cuts. Though the songs are not upto the mark, Imman's background score is one of the biggest positives of Marudhu.
