Meagamann - Average film
Magizh Thirumeni who gave us the edge of the seat entertainer, Thadayara Thakka is back in action with Meaghamann and this time he comes up with a racy action premise with an undercover cop angle to it. Arya who gave super hits with multi starrers like Raja Rani and Arrambam is back with a solo hero subject and let’s see whether Meaghamann gave him the much needed hit or not…
Plot
Jothi is a smuggling king in Goa and two top police officers have trained a cop (Arya) to be in disguise of a gangster in Jothi’s camp. When Jothi comes to know about the police officers’ plan, things get ugly and the rest of the story tells us about how Arya completes his mission.
Execution
The story of Meaghamann is smartly packed in such a way there are quite a few interesting moments in it. Magizh Thirumeni has executed the film with the darker side of underworld and depicted the sufferings and psyche of an undercover cop. On the downside, the film lacks punch for an edge of the seat entertainer. The pace of the film is too slow and commercial film lovers won’t be entertained with such execution. The arrangement of scenes is also not coherent and one can firmly say that Magizh Thirumeni is not in his best form.
Performance
Arya has continued his stone faced reaction less look in Meaghamann but this time it suited for his character. Hansika’s role is more of a cameo and she comes only for 20 minutes.Villains Ashutosh Rana has given a fantastic performance and he may get more offers in Tamil. Ashish Vidyarthi, Ramanna who acted as Arya’s friend and Sudhashunu Pandey have done quite a good job.
Technicalities
Thaman’s BGM raises the tempo but how many years music composers are going to re-use Hans Zimmer’s Dark Knight score? Cinematographer by SR Sathish has captured the darker side of Goa in the most authentic manner while editing by Srikanth is average for an action thriller.
Bottom Line
Meagamann is an average film for audience who like different action thrillers but for commercial lovers this movie might test your patience.
Verdict : Average film
Stars : 2/5
