Mundasupatti - Mundasupatti – Sirippupatti!

Story: Mundasupatti is a village in which its inhabitants are of strong belief that they will die soon if they are photographed. Though the villagers don’t get themselves photographed when alive, they are of the habit of having their family members clicked after their death. When the village headman passes away, Vishnu and his assistant Kali goes to Mundasupatti to click the body.

Unfortunately, the photo goes out of focus and Vishnu has Munishkanth, an aspiring actor, disguise himself as the dead man and photographs him. He then hands over this photo to the villagers. Post interval, Munishkanth enters the village as the dead man’s nephew and the comedy riot that ensues makes Mundasupatti an enjoyable fare.

Technicalities: Though the songs set to tune by Sean Rolden appears to be in bits and pieces, it is very impressive. PV Shankar’s cinematography does bring out the 1982 feel in the film throughout.

Acting: Nanditha, as a village school student, is a perfect fit for the role. She is stunningly beautiful in the role and has acted well too. Kali, as Vishnu’s buddy, has handled comedy well. Munishkanth’s role is parallel to hero Vishnu’s. He has utilized the opportunity well right from the start till the end.

Negatives: It is clearly evident that the director has included the UFO and comets to increase the run-time. Though it is interesting, in some places it is clearly boring.

But the comedy in the film has managed to negate such negatives in Mundasupatti.

Best: Though the biggest plus in Mundasupatti is comedy, the actors should be praised for handling it well. Their body language and dialogue delivery adds to Mundasupatti’s success.

Verdict : Mundasupatti – Sirippupatti!

Stars : 3/5
