Naalu Policesum Nalla Irundha Oorum - A tiresome comedy

Arulnithi's choice of picking different genres is a revelation. The fact he has done Vamsam, Oru Kanniyum Moonu Kalavaanigalum, Demonte Colony and Mouna Guru shows the graph of his career and the taste he has for films. Breaking all genres, he has finally decided to try his hands with comedy and signed Naalu Polisum Nalla Iruntha Oorum Directed by Sri Krishna. Has it worked out?

Plot

The plot is quite threadbare. There is a village named PorPanthal where crimes rarely happen. Or crimes never happen. There is a police station in the village which works only from morning 9 AM to evening 5 PM.

Arulnithi, Singam Puli, Bags and Vigneswaran are the four police officers working in the police station. However, their peaceful life gets disturbed when their higher official reveals that they will be transferred to Ramanathapuram since Por Panthal is free from violence and the police station will be closed permanently.

Plus

The main Plus of the film is the performance of Singam Puli who carries his role with effortless ease. Others in the team manage to break clutter and that's about it.

Minus

Arulnithi doesn't fit into this role as a police officer. His body language looks perfect but for a seriocomical persona, he looks quite miscast in the character.

The screenplay is poorly written with the director failing bluntly to generate laughter among audiences. His various methods contrived to evoke laughter are quite laughable.

Bottom-line

NPNO is a tiresome comedy which thrives on melodrama in the second half. A great miss by Arulnithi in his glittering career.

Verdict : A tiresome comedy

Stars : 2/5
