Naan Pon Ondru Kandein - Not a professional make
Aspirations and curiousness have become the main aspects of any filmmakers planning to launch themselves into the industry. Sometimes, few surprises happen as some special personalities foray into the industry and enthral us all. Apparently, there are few other personalities who feel to themselves that a good idea has popped up and pitching them on the screens would be an overnight success. So is director Sanjeev Srinivas who make his debut directorial with the film ‘Naan Pon Ondru Kandein’ that stars Ashwin and Anamika in lead roles.
Story
The film’s protagonist (played by Ashwin) works for a bunch of baddies owning the cycle stand contract job across a bus depot. He does petty jobs for them and then on the parallel track, a group of roughnecks involved in the dark business of misusing women for blue films. An innocent girl (Anamika) gets trapped by them and without her knowledge, the boy save hers and indeed falls in love one-sided. Well, this is not a normal love story, but lots of characters come in as encounter specialities and thugs have a combat. Will the couple get their course of happiness and lead a peaceful life or not forms crux of the story?
Performance
Everything looks amateur and the characterisations are so bleak. Dialogues and mannerisms are the deciding factors of a strong characterisation, but over here they lack everything. Ashwin over reacts in almost every frame and Anamika is completely unconfident about what’s happening around her.
Plus
The producer has spent a huge amount into the production though they have not been utilised properly.
Minus
Almost everything from star-cast, narration and technical aspects are completely disappointing. There are too many characterisations and too many dramas happening. But there is no proper connection between them.
On the whole, Sanjeev has missed the good opportunity of extending his feat into the league of filmmakers in Tamil industry. A proper script work, pre-production planning and good execution is what he has to develop for continuing his journey in showbiz.
Verdict : Not a professional make
Stars : 1/5
