Oru Naal Koothu - A Must Watch!
REVIEW
Oru Naal Koothu is a 2016 Tamil comedy drama Movie, Which is directed by Nelson and produced by J. Selva Kumar under the production banner of Kenanya Films. The Movie features Dinesh, Mia George and Nivetha Pethuraj in the leading roles. The Music and soundtracks of this movie were composed by Pannaiyarum Padminiyum fame Justin Prabhakaran. Karunakaran, Ramesh Thilak, Bala Saravanan, Ramdoss, Charlie, and others are in the supporting role.
The movie is about the arranged marriages and the stress which the women undergo during this process. It is more like a pre-wedding pressure, and this film has shown the concept in the most realistic way.
STORY
The movie is about the three young women, who are on the verge of getting married — Lakshmi (Mia George), a timid homely girl from Trichy, radio jockey Susheela (Ritwika) and Kavya (Nivetha Pethuraj) a no-nonsense headstrong IT professional.
Lakshmi’s problem is her orthodox and stern dad (Nagineedu), rejects all the eligible guys who come to see her for different reasons. For Susheela, her dark skin and a job in the media are huge obstacles, that no one is willing to tie the knot with her, while Kavya’s biggest worry is that her boyfriend Raj (Dinesh) is an introvert who has a serious inferior complex, as he comes from a lower middle-class family. In short, Oru Naal Koothu portrays the pre-wedding pressure and its effect on today’s youngsters on a lighter vein.
PERFORMANCE
The lead actors have given an excellent performance. Specially the three female leads who are absolutely flawless. Mia George is apt as the coy girl-next-door girl. Rithvika is in top form as the bold and confident RJ. Nivetha is a promising find and she fits into her role beautifully.
It is a relief to watch Attakathi Dinesh in a sophisticated role, as he plays an IT staff. Bala Saravanan, who comes as Dinesh’s friend is a riot and his one liners arouse good laughter. When you feel the script was getting slow, then there comes the comedy which became the heart of the film.
Ramesh Thilak, Karunakaran, Charlie, Nagineedu in small roles impress.
Cameraman Gokul and music director Justin Prabhakaran have chipped in with their best. Though the story line was pretty straight forward, the narration by Nelson took it to a new level. Also Sabu V Joseph edits help the movie to maintain the coherency.
