Udhayanidhi Stalin and Nivetha Pethuraj of 'Oru Naal Koothu' fame have paired up for 'Podhuvaga Emmanasu Thangam' directed by debutant Thalapathy Prabhu. The film touted to be a comic entertainer is being produced by Thenandal Studios Limited banner which was formerly known as Sri Thenandal Films. This is the first time Udhay is acting in an out and out rural entertainer. 

Soori is acting as the lead comedian. Veteran actor-director R.Parthiban has been cast in an important supporting character as Nivetha's father. 

D.Imman has provided the musical score while Balasubramaniam has done the cinematography. 

STORY

Podhuvaga En Manasu Thangam film is set in a village, this story is centred around two men, Ganesh and Oothukaattan. Ganesh is an unemployed young man who is keen on working for the betterment of his village while Oothukaatan, a self-obsessed older man, is interested in highlighting his own image. Caught between these two men is Leelavathi, a young woman who has been trying to pass her high school exams for the past four years.  Udhayanidhi Stalin plays Ganesh and actor-director Parthiban is Oothukaattan. 

PERFORMANCE

Udhayanidhi Stalin is clearly improvising from every film. Udhaynidhi's portrayal as Ganesh is real and he with dhoti clad plays his part well. Humour comes good for him while he has improved his dancing skills leaps and bounds. 

Nivetha Pethuraj is cute and bubbly. She has a meaty role to play unlike contemporary heroines in their films. Soori is a scene-stealer who evokes fun in every scene. His unique dialogue delivery and mannerisms are fun to watch. His encounters with Udhayanidhi are sure to evoke laughter. 

However the man to applaud is Parthiban. Acting comes naturally for him. A tricky role and he does it with ease. His looks and walks add authenticity to the character. A role which is behind publicity has been pulled off in style by him. 

Thalapathy Prabhu has won the battle thanks to his team and apt star cast. A refreshing storyline with enough elements to make you laugh, Podhuvaga En Manasu Thangam sticks to our hearts. Music by Imman is peppy and nice. The BGM are earthy and suits the story well. Balasubramaniem's cinematography is eye-catchy. He had in the past proved his mettle with his lens.
