Rajathandhiram - Intriguing mind game
Con thrillers have become popular in Tamil cinema, thanks to Soodhu Kavvum and Sathuranga Vettai, now debut director Amid’s Rajathandhiram has also joined the club. Does Rajathandhiram repeats the same success as the above said movies? Read on to know…
Plot
Arjun (Veera), Kullan ( Darbuka Siva) and Deva (Ajai Prasath) are petty cons in Chennai. They often deceive innocent people in the name of second hand car and mobile sales. All the three meet an Anglo Indian Mitchell (Regina Cassandra) and among them Veera falls in love with her.
When Veera comes to know about Regina’s family is suffering with debts caused by her father who lost his money in a finance company, he decides to rob big money so that he could help her. Unluckily they lost the consignment which leads them to another big robbery plan at Anbazhagan’s (Pattiyal Sekar) gold shop in Chennai. The trio robs the gold shop to help Regina and the finance company owner Dharma (Naren) who was conned by Pattiyal Sekar.
Plus
The film’s major plus is that taut screenplay which keeps us engaged throughout the movie. The second half moves at a rapid speed that we couldn’t guess the next scene of the movie which is a huge advantage for a thriller movie. Similarly performances by Pattiyal Sekar, Darbukka Siva and the film’s hero Veera stand out that they are helping the movie to have an interesting and smooth flow.
Regina looks super cute and the background score by Sandeep Chowta raises the tempo.Cinematography by experienced cinematographer SR Kathir is another huge plus for the movie.
Minus
The first twenty minutes of the movie is moving at a leisure pace and the editor could have trimmed it. Similarly the climax appears to be forced to make sure that hero doesn’t set bad example for the society.
Bottom Line
Rajathandhiram is indeed an interesting mind game which is sure to be enjoyed by the audiences.
Verdict : Intriguing mind game
Stars : 2.5/5
