Naaigal Jaakirathai - Passable family entertainer with fun and thrill moments

A comeback is always a special moment for any actor and on pars, so crucial as walking on a slim wall. Balance or fallout again. Sibiraj nearly after three years makes his comeback with something unusual in Naaigal Jaakirathai.

When a cop’s wife is kidnapped by masked strangers already on headlines for such misdeeds, a cop and his buddy Subramani, a military trained Belgium Shepherd set out to hunt them down.

 Performance

To start off with the analysis, we would precisely mark that it’s director Sakthi Soundarajan who deserves a mighty appreciation. Perhaps, Tamil cinema has experimented with such genres before a very long time, but he deserves special mention for rejuvenating this genre. Sibiraj in many places slightly remind us off his father Sathyaraj (he has produced this film as well). We aren’t sure whether if it’s his imitation or natural resemblance, but its fine and not a blunder indeed. He scores well in few scenes and especially in almost all situations with Belgium Shepherd. Arundhati looks beautiful in homely and decent looks. Her characterisation is crucial to the plot and she carries it out well. Not to miss the protagonist Subramani here. It encompasses the best of all entertainment with fun and elegance.

 Plus

Sakthi Rajan deserves a pat for his deliberate writing to entertain the family audiences. He etches not so different, but on pars something engrossing towards the plot. Maybe you claim it to be a different version of Mysskin’s Anjathey, where the kidnappers pose a threat to everyone in the city. Musical score by Dharan is better than his previous films and couple of songs grab our attention. Shooting a film with dog is really a speculative one and it has been done in groovy manner.

 Minus

The cinematographer seems to have missed out certain criteria of perfection. What we see as the house of Sibiraj and his neighbour have been shot inside the same place, but the cinematographer misses to be careful while canning the exterior shots that give a clear impression of his logic missing on location. There are some loopholes in the screenplay and few logic goes missing, which should have been so scrupulously handled.

Final word!!! Naaigal Jaakirathai might have some loopholes and logical miss, but when you feel the need for stress buster, this one becomes your topmost choice.

Verdict : Passable family entertainer with fun and thrill moments

Stars : 2.5/5
