Tamil Selvanum Thaniyar Anjalum - A Decent Attempt..!
REVIEW
Jai and Yami Gautam's 'Tamil Selvanum Thaniyar Anjalum' is a crime-thriller written and directed by Premsai. The movie, produced by leading filmmaker Gautham Menon, has been released on Friday, Aug. 5. Santhanam, VTV Ganesh, Ashutosh Rana, Nassar, Saranya Ponvannan and others are in the cast. 'Tamilselvanum Thaniyar Anjalum' has Karthik's music. Sathya Ponmar and Praveen Anthony are the other key members in the technical team who have handled cinematography and editing departments, respectively.
STORY
After doing a few small jobs, school dropout Tamilselvan lands in Chennai in the hope of finding a better-paying profession. His friend Nasa (Santhanam) works in a courier shop and the hero gets to meet Kavya (Yami Gautham) when Nasa asks him to deliver a courier to her shop.
It does not take much time for Tamilselvan to fall in love with her and this makes him find a job in the courier company so that he could meet her. The story takes a serious turn with the introduction of Dr. Arun (Ashutosh Rana), who has a team to abort pregnancies in the early stages and take out the stem cells, which are useful to cure many diseases.
Manikandan, a ward boy played by Thambi Ramaiah, decides to expose the racket and tries to inform social activist (Nassar) by sending abortion-inducing pill through courier. The packet lands in the hero's hands and what happened next forms the rest of the story.
PERFORMANCE
The cast is decent enough with Jai at his usual best. However, when it comes to the action sequences, the actor looks a tad out of place. Yami Gautham could have been given a deeper role. Her character looks forced and the romantic portions involving her is a major drawback as they slow down the pace of the film. Similarly, comedy scenes involving Santhanam and VTV Ganesh get tedious after a point and in the second half, it becomes unbearable as it stops the flow of the core plot.
Sathya's cinematography is good as it delivers several eye candy moments, apart from capturing the true essence of the film. Music director Karthik impresses with his work and Sandeep Chowta bowls us over with his well-defined BGM. The art directors have done a commendable job by choosing narrow lanes for giving us the edgy feel of always being on the run.
