Thirudan Police - Watch it if you’re on free of time
Tamil cinema has never been through the dearth of father-son sentimental stories. Thirudan Police is a certain film that comes with the same package of emotions, sentiments blended with some humour and commercial quotients. If you’re precisely looking up for some top-notch quality with narration or something unconventional, you’re sure to get chiselled. But all that we can assure is that you can enjoy this film if you plan to watch a mindless entertainer.
Story
Attakathi Dinesh has no worries in life and he is the son of a head constable (played by Rajesh). He doesn’t have any certain plans in life and keeps moving his days with silly things, but never hurts anyone intentionally. And then, there is Nithin Sathya son of a corrupt assistant commissioner. When there is a clash between these two youngsters, there turns to be a serious issue in the backdrops that is brought under light by Dinesh’s father Rajesh. Unable to bear this, the corrupt assistant commission with the help of some thugs (John Vijay and Naan Kadavul Rajendran) kill him in an encounter. When the job passes to Dinesh on the basis of mercy and compassion, he decides to quit it because of disloyal police department. But sooner, he reaffirms himself to tackle the issues and seek revenge against the ones who killed his father.
Performance
Attakathi Dinesh gets a role that is close quite to his real life nature. If you had known him closely, he delivers same kind of speech in real life as well and his easy and casual mannerisms are good. Rajesh as sincere police officer sets up an emotional delivery. Aadukalam Narain as commissioner of police as usual takes a cakewalk through his characterisation. Bala as the comedian is appreciable. Renuka as Dinesh’s mother is a sentimental toast.
Plus
As mentioned earlier, the star-cast of this film is quite familiar and they have done their parts well. Caarthick Raju picks up a story that is simple, but manages to balance these emotional factors with fun as well. Something unpredictable happens during the last few minutes of this film that is laced with fun. The second half has lots of drama indeed.
Minus
Iyshwarya appears with glamorous appeal, but doesn’t score much with her characterisation. The musical score by Yuvan Shankar Raja is little disappointing and only few songs are worthy of listening that includes ‘Pesathey’. The first half runs with some sluggish moment.
On the whole, ‘Thirudan Police’ is a passable entertainer that can be watched if you’re really not a Woody Allen and Christopher Nolan fan.
Verdict : Watch it if you’re on free of time
Stars : 2.5/5
