Thodari - Thodari – A One Time Journey..!
REVIEW
Thodari is directed by Prabhu Solomon who has made his debut with Kannodu Kanbhethellam in 1999. This is the first time he is working with Dhanush. Thodari is produced by TG Thiyagarajan, Sendhil Thiyagarajan, Arjun Thiyagarajan, Prabhu Solomon under the banners of Sathya Jyothi Films and God Pictures. The story for the movie is penned by Prabhu Solomon. D.Imman has composed the music for this movie and this is the 6th time he is working for a Prabhu Solomon film.
Along with Dhanush and Keerthy in lead roles the movie also stars Karunakaran, Thambi Ramaiah, Radha Ravi, Ganesh Venkataraman, Chinni Jayanth, RV Udhayakumar, Pooja Zaveri. Vetrivel Mahendran has done the cinematography and editing is handled by LVK Doss. Yuga Bharathi has penned the lyrics for all the songs in the movie. Nobel and Bobby has done the choreography and stunts are choreographed by Stun Siva.
STORY
Dhanush is a rural village man who works in a cafeteria and gets transferred to Train food service department on Duronto express which travels from Delhi to Chennai. Keerthy Suresh is a local village girl, who for an unknown reason boards the train without any ticket when the train is stopped. Being ticketless, she travels on the edges of the train.
News arrives that there are hijackers on the train and the main focus misleads onto Keerthy Suresh, who isn’t aware of this. Keerthy Suresh and Dhanush fall in love with each other and many policemen enter the train to arrest the hijackers.
Ganesh Venkatraman is the police officer and plans a police investigation on train. Harish Uthaman is the shady villain in the movie who gets into fights with Dhanush until he gets to know the truth.
Who and Why are the Hijackers on the train ? Is Keerthy Suresh one of the hijackers ? Is Dhanush shady ? These things form the rest of the story.
PERFORMANCE
Dhanush looks so effortless in acting. He looks so natural in his role. Keerthy Suresh has put a commendable effort. Their romance is simple and ordinary, there is nothing glamorous about this pair. Yet, you are drawn to this fresh duo.
Train plays a major role in the movie. Kudos to the art direction department. The stunt scenes deserves a special mention here. They have done an uncompromising job. Music is composed by Prabhu Solomon’s favorite composer D.Imman. Film has 3 songs in total whereas audio album had 4. Among the 3 songs, ‘Pona Usiru…’ stands out with Shreya Ghoshal’s magical voice. Picturization of all the songs are below par. Imman’s background music is good.
Prabhu Solomon, the man who delivers beautiful films like Myna, Kumki and Kayal this time joins with a good performer Dhanush. He extracts the base plot from hollywood film ‘Unstoppable’. With no story and proper screenplay, he struggled to move each scene. Only good part is the dialogues. Witty dialogues makes the film a passable one in the slow paced first half. Second half is filled with scenes which trolls TV Channel talk shows and Dhanush running, fighting and romancing over the top of 140 km/hr moving train.
PLUS
Dhanush and Keerthy Suresh chemistry
Screenplay
MINUS
Predictable story
VFX and Cinematography
Verdict : Thodari – A One Time Journey..!
