Vaalu - Run-of-the-mill
It’s been three years since Simbu’s movie released on big screen. After so much of delay and controversies, the film is finally releasing today but again the early morning show cancelled and created a fresh buzz too. So how’s the movie? Read on…
Plot
Sharp (STR) is blessed with a understanding family, his father never pressurize him to go to a job but leaves hundred bucks as his pocket money. When Sharp finds a girl, his mother says ‘Entha Velaiyum pannathapo intha velai mattum nalla pannuva nu theriyum’ and our hero too bashes boys who teases his sister.
Sharp also having a comic friend named Tyre aka Kirubakaran (Santhanam) who is his booze companion and love guru.
When Sharp falls in love with Priya Mahalakshmi (Hansika), he learns that her parents already fixed wedding with her uncle Anbu (Aditya) but she told her parents to wait for two years so that she will complete her studies.
Sharp tells Tyre that he will make Priya to fall in love with him in 10 days. Does he succeed?
Plus
The film’s major plus is of course Simbu who steals the show with his massive energy level and amazing dialogue delivery.
Santhanam’s comedy is another great strength for the movie and he provides some good laugh.
Thaman’s powerful background score and dance numbers are the added positive aspects of the film.
Minus
Hansika looks bloated and she is a miscast for the role. Her lip-sync is too bad that she fails once again in putting some kind of effort.
There is no proper characterization for the villain, he looks weak and his trembling Tamil is another major disadvantage.
The film’s production value looks dull while the action sequences are like watching Telugu mass masala films.
Bottom Line
Vaalu is definitely not a great comeback film. For now, it might satisfy his fans and not the general audiences.
Verdict : Run-of-the-mill
Stars : 2/5
