The kids Kishore, Sree Raam, Pandi and Kuttymani of Pasanga fame have become teenagers now and last year they scored a massive hit with their combinational film Goli Soda. Now they have joined together for Vajram, an action thriller which is based on current educational system.

Plot

Aravind, Madurai, Pandi and Kuttymani (Kishore, Sree Raam, Pandi, Kuttymani)  are thik friends and they are convicted in alleged rape case of their own class mate. The four are at juvenile prison and go through various tough situation to survive. In one such situation a police officer uses them to hath a plan to kidnap a minister (Jayaprakash) so that he can take away his 100 crs property. To the police officer’s surprise, all the four teenagers kidnaps minister’s daughter and from there the action begins

The basic plot of Vajram is super strong, having four teenagers in juvenile prison and their revenge against powerful minister and education system is indeed interesting. The performances of all the teenagers are also good while veterans like Jayaprakash and Thambi Ramiah are the big strengths for the movie, also cinematography by Kumaraesan is fantastic that it captured that green forest locations and rugged-ugly prison

Minus

The film lacks convincing screenplay, also the action sequences are over the top and unconvincing. Dialogues are preachy, editing is annoyingly racy and the jarring music spoils the total mood of the movie.

Director also never minds about logic as the four teenagers sleeps away so that their hostage (minister’s daughter) escapes away, executes master class plan in other scenes and violent action sequences are also completely unnecessary.

The film’s theme is certainly  appreciable and the director’s idea of making a riveting action thriller with the four teenagers are also good but he fails big time in writing the perfect screenplay for the film.

Bottom Line

The theme is laudable but the execution is appalling hence this is not a classic like Pasanga or Golisoda

Verdict : Wannabe Golisoda without fuzz
