Vanavarayan Vallavarayan - Time again tested genre. Not too impressive
With Vanavarayan and Vallavarayan, director Rajamohan has proved that he can keep the audience engaged with a great entertainment film, especially after his tragic and disastrous flick Kunguma Poovum Konjum Puravum way back in 2009.
Story
The story is about two brothers, Vanavarayan (Krishna) and Vallavarayan (Ma Ka Pa Anand) who are regarded as the comedy Rajas of Pollachi especially for their witty humour sense. The film takes a turn when Vanavarayan falls for Anjali (Monal Gajjar), a cute looking gal. Clashes occur between the families, ending in a happy note.
Performance
First of all, big screen debut actor Ma Ka Pa Anand deserves a special mention for his splendid performance and his introduction is very much stronger than Sivakarthikeyan who made is debut through Marina by playing a small role. Ma Ka Pa has taken immense effort to connect with the audience using both emotional and humour quotients and this is infact a great attempt for any beginner. While Krishna has given a great performance too, the two brothers have rocked the theaters with immense entertainment. Well, if your someone who does not consider much of logic, then the film will be a great fun watching despite the hackneyed story penned by Rajmohan. While Monal Gajjar looks quite charming in the film, we must say, she certainly needs to improve her acting prowess. Sowcar Janaki is a great attraction for the film and S.P.B Charan has done a good job. Jayaprakash fits his role to perfection. and Thambi Ramaiah sure sends across a laughter riot with his humour quotients. Well, the major highlight of the film is the special appearance of Santhanam which boosts the mood of the audience.
Plus
As we would mention in the minus aspects, there is nothing special about the film as it carries a threadbare script. The screenplay gets sluggish in few places, but the performance Ma Ka Pa Anand and Krishna becomes a good highlight to keep it going.
Minus
While the music of Yuvan Shankar Raja is quite good to hear, but they are not really tremendous. The story seems to be little time worn and maybe, it might not impress the multiplex audiences to a greater extent. There is no substantiality in the script in many places.
Nevertheless, the entertainment factors have become its greatest strength. Finally, to make a mark, Vanavarayan Vallavarayan is an average mindless entertainer.
Verdict : Time again tested genre. Not too impressive
Stars : 2/5
